How do you turn an interview into shorts?
Video To Reel is a mobile app, for iPhone and Android, that turns a recorded interview into finished vertical shorts. You upload the interview file from your own device — MP4, MOV or MKV — and Video To Reel transcribes both sides of the conversation, selects the answers worth clipping, cuts each one on the sentence rather than on a timer, reframes it to 9:16 around whichever person is talking, burns in word-timed captions and renders at 1080p. Every account gets one free video a calendar month, returned as 3 clips with a small watermark, from an upload of up to 15 minutes; paid plans return up to 10 clips per video, accept uploads up to 3 hours long and render with no watermark. Finished clips stay in the app for 30 days on a paid plan and 7 days on the free one. The interview you uploaded is deleted the moment rendering finishes — it is never used to train anything.

The frame changes hands
An interview is a rally. Video To Reel tracks whichever face is talking and moves the 9:16 crop with it, smoothed so a short exchange does not turn into a slideshow of jump cuts.
Cut on the thought, not the minute
Answers do not arrive in neat 30-second parcels. Clips are cut from the transcript at the start and end of a complete answer, so a short does not open mid-clause or die before the punchline.
Captions carry the expertise
Expert answers are dense, and most of the feed is muted. Word-timed captions are burned in at 1080p, so a technical sentence still lands with the sound off.
Everyone identifiable in the recording has to have consented where their local law requires it, and you confirm that when you upload. See section 4 of the terms and the privacy policy for what happens to the file.

Before you upload an interview
Does it handle two people in one frame?
Yes — that is the case it was built for. A centre crop of a two-shot cuts both heads in half; Video To Reel finds the face that is currently speaking and keeps the vertical frame on it, moving between interviewer and guest as the answer changes hands.
What about a remote interview recorded on Zoom or Riverside?
Fine, as long as you upload a video file. A grid recording, a speaker-view export or separate-track footage you have already combined all work. There is no link field anywhere in the product, so download the file from your recording tool and upload it from your phone.
How many shorts do I get from one interview?
Up to 10 per video on any paid plan, and 3 on the free monthly video. You choose the number before the render, and you can re-render an existing clip — new caption style, new position, a tighter trim — without spending minutes again.
Is my guest's interview used to train a model?
No. The file is transcribed, cut, reframed, captioned and rendered, then deleted along with every intermediate file as soon as the clips are ready. We claim no ownership of your footage and do not use it to train models or to promote the service.
